Brazilian former presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro travelled to Argentina before flying to Ecuador, Argentina's government said Wednesday, days after his election defeat to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. He is en route to the US where allegedly he will seek asylum following his passports being nullified after failure to comply with a Supreme Court order in a money-laundering probe.
Brazilian presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro said on Monday that a Supreme Court justice had barred him from leaving the country after he narrowly lost to incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro, who refused to concede defeat, denounced the order as intimidation and vowed to challenge the election results.
