The University of Nicosia’s Institute for the Future (IFF) has completed a four-day professional training programme on crypto-assets for MOKAS, the Republic of Cyprus’ Financial Intelligence Unit.
The programme was awarded to UNIC following a competitive public tender and ran between 24-29 September 2026 at MOKAS premises in Nicosia. It was designed and delivered specifically for the Unit, following a needs assessment carried out with participating staff in advance.
The curriculum covered the technological foundations of crypto-assets and public blockchains; the European and Cypriot legal and regulatory framework, including the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation and the Transfer of Funds Regulation; the analysis of crypto-asset transactions and the tools used for that work; and the procedural dimension of locating, freezing and seizing crypto-assets.
Teaching was led by Dr Charis Savvides, with Professor George Giaglis, Executive Director of the IFF, and Professor Apostolos Kourtis.
“Crypto-assets are now a routine feature of financial crime reporting, and the skills needed to read that reporting properly are specific and learnable,” said Dr Savvides. “The aim was not to make anybody a blockchain specialist in four days. It was to give experienced financial intelligence professionals the technical grounding to interrogate what arrives on their desks with the same rigour they already apply to everything else.”
The University of Nicosia has taught blockchain and digital assets since 2013 and is the first university worldwide to offer a full academic degree in the field. Its IFF conducts research and delivers executive and professional education on distributed ledger technologies, digital assets and their regulation.
As part of its ‘Sportwagenschmiede ’35’ strategic realignment, Porsche is presenting a forward-looking vision model as a first glimpse of the brand’s evolved design identity.
“A Porsche must be recognisable as a Porsche at first glance,” says Dr Michael Leiters, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. “The Mission S provides a glimpse of the ideas and design features that will shape Porsche in the coming years.”
The focus is on the authentic, consistent and timeless design of the vehicle and a particularly intense connection between driver and car. “At the same time, the Mission S represents a mid-engined super sports car platform positioned above the 911 – not as a one-off hypercar, but as a permanent and versatile addition to our customer offering,” adds Leiters.
The Porsche Mission S celebrated its world premiere on October 29, 2026 at a location of historical significance to the company: a pier in Queens, New York, with a view of the Manhattan skyline beyond. The first pictures of the mid-engined Porsche 550 Spyder on this very pier made their way around the world in 1953. As the brand’s first super sports car, the 550 Spyder is still regarded today as having defined the company’s identity. At the same time, it laid an important foundation for Porsche’s popularity and success in the US.
By choosing this location, therefore, Porsche was emphasising the importance of its history for the future of design and brand – a claim also reflected in the Mission S.
Authentic, consistent and timeless: these three terms set the strategic framework for the further development of Porsche’s iconic design identity.
“The Mission S is the result of a forward-looking, holistic design strategy,” says Tobias Sühlmann, Head of Style Porsche. “This vision model illustrates a fundamental strategic direction that we will soon be translating into our future product portfolio.”
The Mission S combines a powerful mid-engine super sports car platform with a clear design language inspired by historic Porsche icons. Inside, the focus is on purism, driver-oriented ergonomics and a forward-looking symbiosis of analogue and digital controls. The deliberate reduction of digital surfaces focuses on direct interaction between driver and vehicle.
Exterior design: purist design language with innovative design features
The exterior of the Porsche Mission S translates typical Porsche design features into the future. The characteristic torpedo fenders, the iconic roofline and the dramatic width-to-height ratio form central elements of the sports car architecture. This results in what are known as ‘floating volumes’: flowing forms and surfaces that appear to float and create a powerful, technical-looking sculptural appearance and effectively showcase the performance character of the sports car.
Particular attention has been paid to the car’s clean lines. A wraparound main line connects the light signatures at the front and rear, creating an overall appearance that is as striking as it is harmonious. Above this line, the surfaces emphasise muscularity and dynamism, while the areas below make technical functions visible and emphasise the lightweight construction philosophy.
Historic Porsche icons serve as a source of inspiration. The round headlights and the striking fenders, which not only echo the familiar ‘torpedo’ design but also make the side profile more present, are reminiscent of the 911. The shut lines that merge into the light graphics pay homage to the G model. The flat front takes its cue from the GT1, while the dynamic-looking roofline beneath the rear wing is reminiscent of the 959. In the Mission S, it extends distinctively right through to the rear of the car. Another highlight is the car-in-car concept at the rear, derived from the GT1. All elements are interpreted in a contemporary way and combined to form a harmonious overall design.
The proportions of the show car are characterised by its mid-engined architecture. The engine is positioned centrally in the vehicle, which enables the familiar ‘flyline’ to be realised. Technical details, such as the cooling solution reminiscent of the Porsche 917’s radiator fan or the fully integrated active rear wing, combine function and design in typical Porsche manner. Another highlight are the wheels: based on the iconic ‘dial design’ of the 928, a new design concept has been created that is systematically geared towards lightweight construction. The wheels of the vision model underline the striking overall impression of the sports car.
Interior: consistent focus on the driver
Inside, the Porsche Mission S represents a deliberate return to the core values of sports car engineering. The interior architecture is based on historic Porsche sports cars such as the 550 Spyder and the 356. Two defining lines run through the dashboard and doors. They convey the characteristic feeling of sitting ‘deep within the car’ and create a visual link to the exterior design.
At the same time, they create a clear, timeless appearance that directs the eye to the essentials. A smooth transition between analogue and digital controls makes the interior feel both familiar and modern. Classic switches and buttons are combined with modern displays, creating an ergonomic layout that combines the familiar with the future. The seats also follow this approach. New technical solutions, such as an integrated seatbelt buckle in the centre panel and repositioned electric adjustment controls, combine comfort, functionality and motorsport DNA.
In terms of colour, the show car deliberately draws on the tradition of successful Porsche racing cars with white, grey and red tones. The specially developed colours, Firn White Metallic, Light Red Metallic, Black Chrome and Special Black in the interior, reinterpret the classic Porsche Motorsport colours and emphasise the visual link to the brand’s sporting core.
Driver Experience: symbiosis of analogue and digital controls
In addition to the further developed interior architecture, the focus is clearly on the ‘Driver Experience’. The aim is to create an ideal symbiosis of analogue and digital controls. Rather than additional displays and functions, the concept focuses on simplicity, clarity and intuitive operation.
The driver’s axis forms the heart of the concept. The systematic alignment of all the controls towards the driver, combined with a mix of haptic and digital feedback, creates a particularly direct user experience. Highlights include the five characteristic round instruments behind the steering wheel. At the centre is the rev counter with an analogue needle and a display positioned behind it. Depending on the driving mode, the rev counter moves closer to the driver to further enhance focus. The arrangement of the round instruments also adapts to the selected drive mode, with the tubes positioned either side by side or behind one another to meet the needs of the driver, depending on the mode selected.
Other innovations include the holder for the specially-designed key, which is positioned to the left of the steering wheel, as is customary at Porsche, and the new control elements in the dashboard with a push-pull function, which allow direct access to various comfort and driving functions. The reimagined Sport Chrono element also combines analogue character with digital precision.
Porsche has deliberately chosen not to include a permanently integrated centre display or a fixed passenger display in the dashboard. Instead, a retractable smartphone system compatible with MagSafe technology has been designed for use as needed. The user’s personal smartphone can serve as a navigation or information display if desired. A clearly-structured and streamlined My Porsche App provides access to all functions and also allows users to select digitally rendered, historically inspired designs for the circular instruments. The result is an interior concept that puts the driving experience first while offering maximum flexibility and convenience.
Future of sports cars: development of a mid-engined super sports car platform
Above the iconic 911 sports car, Porsche is planning, for the first time, a permanently available super sports car offer. The clear objective here is the highest level of engineering excellence and maximum flexibility. This is underpinned by decades of motorsport experience, innovative and brand-defining technology and the forward-looking design unveiled with the Mission S.

MSPS Cyprus received a significant accolade at the Carob Awards 2026, winning the Silver Award for its Corporate Social Responsibility programme ‘ESSO Safe Vision: See clearly. Drive safer’, which was designed and implemented for eWise Cyprus Ltd – ESSO.
The award falls into the category: “Events with a CSR Component (PR Section)”.
The idea behind the initiative stemmed from a simple yet significant observation: that whilst drivers systematically look after their vehicles, they do not always look after their eyesight – one of the most important factors in safe driving.
By transforming ESSO petrol stations into prevention centres, the programme offered free eye tests and spectacles, bringing prevention closer to drivers’ daily lives. Through initiatives across Cyprus, hundreds of drivers were examined.
The programme was implemented in collaboration with the Cyprus Opticians’ Council and A. Potamitis Medicare, under the auspices of the Cyprus Police-Traffic Department.
This accolade highlights the value of strategic communication when combined with creativity, meaningful partnerships and social impact. For MSPS Cyprus, the honour is yet another confirmation that the most powerful ideas are those that go beyond mere promotion and create real value for society.

2026 marks a truly exciting year for CY SOMMS, the non-profit Cyprus governing body of Sommellerie. In the month of November, we have the first CY SOMMS Besserat de Bellefon and Punin Wines Sommelier Champagne Contest.
The spotlight turns to Besserat de Bellefon (“BB”), and to the contest that will take place in Limassol at Alasia Hotel on November 4, 2026. Top sommeliers, members of CY SOMMS will compete for the prestigious title. The contest is in two parts – a written test on champagne as well as BB and blind tasting.
At 3pm that day, the Alasia Hotel will welcome you, the public, sommeliers and members of the press to the final where three contesters will compete on stage for the title of CY SOMMS Besserat de Bellefon and Punin Wines Best Sommelier Champagne Contest.
Besserat de Bellefon—or “BB”—has a distinguished history of being poured in Paris’s toniest establishments, such as the Louvre and the Élysée, as well as swinging cabarets like the Moulin Rouge. It is a family-owned champagne house founded in 1843. The wines are distributed in more than 70 countries. The House now sees its champagnes as ideal for everyday pleasures, and a great partner for food – and who better to offer this experience than sommeliers?
Punin Wine is a Cyprus‑based boutique and distributor offering over 7,000 wines, champagnes, spirits, cigars and gourmet products, with two Limassol boutiques and a full online store.
We are really excited to host this event with our friends from Besserat de Bellefon and Punin Wines as they have become an integral part of the CY SOMMS family over the year. Their support to the Sommellerie is commendable. After the contest there will be a gala dinner with champagne for €95 per person created by the celebrated Alasia Chef Pavlos Kiriakis

Major improvements to the golf course and Clubhouse mark the next chapter in the evolution of Minthis
Minthis has announced a €6 million programme of major improvements to its golf course and Clubhouse, marking an important new chapter in the continued evolution of the award-winning golf and lifestyle destination.
The investment includes a completely redesigned irrigation system, extensive bunker renovations and a series of Clubhouse enhancements, all designed to further improve the golfing experience for members, guests and visitors.
The programme reflects Minthis’ continued commitment to investing in its facilities and infrastructure, while remaining true to the natural environment, character and heritage of the resort.
A Completely Redesigned Irrigation System
At the heart of the investment is a completely redesigned irrigation system, designed by Irritech and installed by Pro Golf Group.
The new system has been engineered to provide wall-to-wall coverage across the golf course, giving the agronomy team significantly greater precision and control over how water is applied.
It will also substantially reduce the watering window, allowing irrigation to be completed more efficiently and with less disruption to play.
For golfers, this will support more consistent playing conditions and healthier turf, while giving the agronomy team greater control over one of the most important elements of course management.
The improved system will also support Minthis’ ongoing focus on responsible water management, which forms an important part of the resort’s wider sustainability philosophy.
The Latest Toro Technology
At the heart of the new irrigation system is the latest Toro irrigation technology, including Infinity sprinklers.
This advanced technology enables water to be applied with greater precision, allowing the agronomy team to respond to the specific requirements of different areas of the course.
The result will be more consistent turf conditions, greater efficiency and improved control across the golf course.
The new infrastructure also incorporates a Grundfos acid injection system, providing enhanced control over the pH of irrigation water and helping to create favourable growing conditions for the turf.
Together, these technologies represent a significant upgrade to the infrastructure supporting the golf course.
Extensive Bunker Renovations
Alongside the irrigation programme, Minthis is undertaking an extensive programme of bunker renovations, incorporating a modern capillary concrete liner system.
The new system is designed to improve drainage, stability and consistency within the bunkers, helping them perform more reliably throughout the year and creating a more consistent experience for golfers.
A Fresh New Look for the Clubhouse
The investment extends beyond the golf course, with a series of enhancements planned for the Minthis Clubhouse.
The main phase of the project is scheduled to begin in January 2027 and continue through to June 2027. Improvements will include a new Sports Bar, enhancements to the Clubhouse restaurant and a larger more prominent Pro Shop with an enhanced retail offering, and a new Caddy Master area.
Together, these improvements will create a more vibrant and welcoming Clubhouse environment — extending the Minthis golf experience beyond the course itself.
Investing in the Future
The latest programme of enhancements follows the introduction of the TrackMan Range earlier this year, bringing a new dimension to the practice and training experience at Minthis.
Together, these investments form part of Minthis’ wider commitment to continually evolving its golf and resort offering, strengthening its position as a world-class golfing and lifestyle destination.
Demetris Ashiotis Managing Director of Minthis stated “This investment represents an important milestone in the continued evolution of Minthis. We are investing not only in the visible elements of the golf experience, but also in the infrastructure and technology that support the course for the long term.”
He continues “Our goal is to continually raise the standard of Minthis while remaining true to the character, heritage and natural setting that make the resort so unique.”
The combination of advanced irrigation technology, smarter water management, upgraded bunkers and enhanced Clubhouse facilities will create a more complete and contemporary golf environment, supporting the long-term quality and sustainability of the Minthis experience.
Minthis is moving forward — and this is just the beginning.

Driven by love, ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets organise the charitable campaign for the second consecutive year.

Launched in 2025, the campaign is dedicated to the memory of Anna Sialarou and is organised for the second consecutive year in collaboration with a group of motorcyclists and volunteers from the charitable Association “One Dream, One Wish”. Its aim is to raise funds for the Association, which supports children with cancer and related illnesses.
“Anna’s Journey to Her Dream” began as an initiative by a group of motorcyclists and volunteers from the Association “One Dream, One Wish” who wished to honour Anna’s memory. Guided by the values of love and giving and with the support of Anna’s family, ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets embraced this moving initiative in 2025, expanding its reach through a nationwide campaign. Furthermore, on 21 and 22 November 2026, a group of volunteer motorcyclists will embark on a two-day nationwide motorcycle ride, visiting all ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets. During the ride, the proceeds from the donation tickets sold at each ALPHAMEGA Hypermarket will be gathered and then handed over to the Association. The campaign will conclude on 22 November with an event at Ermou Square in Larnaca, where the motorcyclists will also complete their ride.
