A leading Melbourne soccer association has written to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission warning of higher fees for families under new rules, but Football Victoria insists it is safeguarding players.

The AFL is returning to a more conventional format for its round-one fixture next season, but Carlton and Richmond have lost their traditional spot at the start of the program.
