“Chupacabra” que aterroriza cidade no México é filmado; divulgação de imagens da criatura é feita por ufólogo

27 October 2026 at 18:15

Veja a gravação:

Ataques a galinhas

A lenda do chupacabra

Every place Trump has renamed during his second presidency, from the Gulf of Mexico to Lake Ontario

  • The Trump administration has changed the names of buildings, a mountain, and bodies of water.
  • An executive order renamed Lake Ontario as "Lake America" amid the trade war with Canada.
  • The president has since floated the idea of renaming the Atlantic Ocean as "American Ocean."

First, the Gulf of Mexico, then Lake Ontario. Now, President Donald Trump has said an ocean could be next.

At a Mississippi rally on Monday, the president floated the idea of renaming the Atlantic Ocean the "American Ocean" and said he thinks "Europe will be thrilled."

He first raised the idea at a Tennessee rally in early October, pitching "Trump Ocean" or "Ocean of the Americas" for either the Atlantic or Pacific. At a South Carolina rally in mid-October, he said Google CEO Sundar Pichai told him "no" to changing the ocean names on Google Maps because they touch a lot of countries.

The White House referred Business Insider to the president's comments.

It wouldn't be the first name change Trump has made or suggested in his second non-consecutive term in office.

In August, he signed an executive order to rename Lake Ontario — one of the five Great Lakes, bordering both Canada and the US — to Lake America. He's also renamed a gulf and a mountain, and has mused about renaming a river, calling New Mexico "New America," and rebranding the Strait of Hormuz as the "Trump Strait."

Besides renaming numerous government programs and buildings after Trump himself, here's a look at other places the administration has renamed — so far.

On the first day back in the White House, Trump signed an executive order titled "Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness."

It directed two actions: rename the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America," and restore Alaska's Denali, the highest mountain in North America, to its former federal name, Mount McKinley. President Barack Obama previously restored the mountain's Native Alaskan name, meaning "the high one" in the Koyukon language, in 2015.

Trump's executive order acknowledged that "congressional action is required to establish a renaming in public law," but called for federal agencies to use the new names in the interim.

Both Google and Apple have since updated their map features to reflect the name change. The Associated Press continued to refer to the body of water as the Gulf of Mexico, leading the White House to bar AP from some press events.

In 2023, the Biden administration changed the names of Army bases named after Confederate leaders, renaming them after Medal of Honor recipients, military leaders, and other war heroes, including women and people of color.

Hegseth reversed the changes in a series of orders in 2025, restoring the names of Fort A.P. Hill, Fort Benning, Fort Pickett, Fort Lee, Fort Gordon, Fort Hood, Fort Polk, Fort Rucker, and Fort Bragg.

The change came amid rising tensions over the trade war with Canada. In August, the US imposed new 50% tariffs on about $20 billion in Canadian goods after negotiations fell apart, prompting Canada to announce retaliatory tariffs of up to 50%. Trump has since reversed some of those tariffs.

Canadians were already calling for boycotts of US products and travel before the August executive order. Carney said in his X response to Lake Ontario's name change that the US "is changing."

"Their trade relations, their foreign policy, their national monuments, their hydronyms," he wrote. "Canadian women and men also know that things must be called by their name, and this lake is called Lake Ontario — today and forever."

Google Maps and Apple Maps show the new name to US users. The change applies only to US federal use.

At the time, Trump also floated renaming an ocean after the US — something he has since repeatedly pitched at recent rallies. The insistence comes despite Trump saying that Pichai told the president "no" when asked to change the Atlantic Ocean's name on Google Maps.

"This time I'm not doing it," Trump said at the South Carolina rally, referring to Pichai's response. "Oceans are different, sir. They cover really a lot of countries. Please don't ask us to do that."

27 October 2026 at 09:45

An empty airport, shuttered storefronts and abandoned hotels: The tourism decline in Tulum is worsening

26 October 2026 at 19:27
A worker inside Tulum National Park, Quintana Roo, on October 19, 2026.

On Tulum airport’s runway there is only one plane: a Viva Aerobus Airbus A320. For several hours that is the only aircraft that will remain at the air terminal inaugurated in 2023. The aerodrome is nearly empty after Aeroméxico, Volaris, and American Airlines announced the cancellation of most of their routes to this destination on the Mexican Caribbean. The loneliness in the terminal is unsettling and, in the distance, all that can be heard is the echo of children playing. The crisis caused by the collapse in tourism, in what was once the jewel of the Riviera Maya, has deepened over the past year and has begun to touch various sectors that had set their sights on the booming future of this municipality in the state of Quintana Roo.

Mexico Detains Ex-Prosecutor on Treason Charges Over CIA Raid

26 October 2026 at 04:44
Former Chihuahua prosecutor César Jáuregui Moreno faces treason charges over a CIA-linked operation in Mexico.

A former Chihuahua prosecutor faces federal charges over a drug-lab operation involving US intelligence agents, escalating a dispute over Mexico’s national sovereignty.

A Mexican federal judge has ordered the pretrial detention of former Chihuahua attorney general César Jáuregui Moreno on charges of treason, ruling that evidence supports allegations that he compromised national sovereignty by allowing US intelligence agents to take part in a drug-lab operation without federal authorization.

Judge Ricardo Alfonso Santos Dorantes issued the order early Sunday after finding sufficient grounds to bring Jáuregui Moreno to trial. The former prosecutor will remain in a maximum-security prison in the State of Mexico while the case proceeds.

The charges stem from a mid-April operation to dismantle a drug laboratory in the Sierra del Pinal, in the northern border state of Chihuahua. According to Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (FGR), agents from the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) participated without the required notification to the Foreign Affairs Ministry or the necessary legal authorizations.

Prosecutors argue that Jáuregui Moreno’s failure to act enabled armed foreign personnel to operate on Mexican territory in activities reserved exclusively for the federal government, putting national security at risk.

— FGR México (@FGRMexico) October 25, 2026

Text Reads: After providing more than 150 pieces of evidence, the #FGR obtained an order of linkage to trial against César “N”, former Attorney General of the state of Chihuahua, for his possible involvement in the crime of treason against the homeland.

The FGR presented more than 150 pieces of evidence at the hearing. Prosecutors also cited public statements in which Jáuregui Moreno said the operation had been planned for months by Chihuahua’s State Investigation Agency and its Special Strategic Operations Prosecutor’s Office. They argued that the account pointed to information being withheld from federal authorities and shared with foreign personnel.

The defense presented documents and witness testimony to challenge the federal allegations. However, Judge Santos Dorantes upheld the charges and set a two-month deadline for investigators to complete the supplementary investigation.

Jáuregui Moreno was initially arrested in Chihuahua city on Saturday under a state-level warrant accusing him of illegally exercising public office and collusion. A local judge ordered him to stand trial on the public-office charge but did not impose pretrial detention, leaving open the possibility of his release.

On October 18, agents from the federal Criminal Investigation Agency arrested him under a separate warrant as he was leaving detention. He was transferred to Mexico City and taken to El Altiplano, a maximum-security prison in the State of Mexico. The hearing on the federal treason charge began on Saturday afternoon and was held behind closed doors.

The case has fueled tensions between state and federal authorities and sparked a wider political dispute over the Chihuahua operation. The controversy has also drawn attention to a private meeting on September 19 in Ciudad Juárez between Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos and President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Campos later disclosed details of the encounter, which involved heated exchanges over the case. She said she went public to counter rumors that she had reached a political pact or a behind-the-scenes agreement with the federal government.

Jorge Romero Herrera, national leader of the opposition National Action Party (PAN), defended Campos’s decision to disclose details of the meeting.

“She is an adult woman; she makes her own decisions,” Romero Herrera said. He also reaffirmed his party’s support for Campos and other PAN officials, including governors and mayors.

I've been to all 50 states. Everyone should visit these 10 at least once.

23 October 2026 at 17:12
Emily stands on a rock in the middle of a lake with clear water in Glacier National Park. The lake is surrounded by mountains and trees.
After visiting all 50 US states, I'm often asked which ones I'd recommend to travelers.

Emily Hart

  • Over the past decade, I've traveled solo to all 50 US states and most major US national parks.
  • Although I've found beauty in every state, there are some that I want to visit over and over again.
  • I love traveling to places like New Mexico, Montana, New Hampshire, and Arizona.

Over the past decade, I've successfully visited all 50 US states solo, and have even made it to most of the major US national parks along the way. Because of this journey, I'm often asked which states I'd recommend to travelers.

Although most international travelers gravitate toward states like Florida and New York, I've found fantastic beauty and history in every state.

However, these are the 10 I always return to.

New Mexico boasts a surprising variety of stunning landscapes.
Emily, wearing jeans, a long-sleeved black shirt, and a hat, stands in front of rock formations at Ghost Ranch.

Emily Hart

New Mexico is always at the top of my list of recommendations. Nicknamed "the land of enchantment," it lives up to its moniker — and then some.

Those who haven't visited New Mexico may think of the state as a mostly barren desert, but it's actually the diverse landscapes that keep me coming back.

From the otherworldly dunes of White Sands National Park to the snow-capped Sangre de Cristo Mountains, there's beauty to be found around every corner.

Outside the natural beauty, the state is chock full of history, art, food, wine, and culture.

California is full of diverse landscapes and experiences.
Emily sits on a wooden path covered in ice in Yosemite National Park. Behind her are mountains, trees, and a swampy area covered in snow.

Emily Hart

Every time I visit California, I feel like I'm entering a completely different reality.

The sheer size and diversity of the state are impressive, and it has gorgeous beaches, cities, forests, deserts, mountains, and even volcanoes.

I love road-tripping up the coast, visiting Yosemite National Park, taking a boat to the Channel Islands, and wine tasting in places like Napa and Sonoma.

Montana is a must-visit state for any outdoor enthusiast.
Emily stands on a rock in the middle of a lake with clear water in Glacier National Park. The lake is surrounded by mountains and trees.

Emily Hart

With its vast open spaces, majestic mountains, and endless opportunities for outdoor adventure, Montana is a must-visit state for any outdoor enthusiast.

The state is home to the breathtaking Glacier National Park and parts of Yellowstone National Park. The sky is vast and open, the mountains are towering, and the lack of development makes me feel like I'm entering another world entirely.

I've returned to West Virginia multiple times.
Emily, wearing sunglasses, black leggings, a green tank top, and a flannel around her waist, stands on rocks in New River Gorge National Park, with a bridge behind her.

Emily Hart

Although it may not get as much attention as some of the other states on this list, I've returned to West Virginia multiple times since my first visit.

The state's natural beauty is stunning, from New River Gorge National Park to ample lush forests, underground caverns, historic small towns, and over 200 waterfalls.

Wisconsin is home to beautiful scenery and great dining options.
Emily sits on the ground in front of a blue-green body of water and trees.

Emily Hart

Wisconsin has so much more than first meets the eye, from the natural beauty of the Apostle Islands and the 15,000 lakes in the state to the classic cheese curds, breweries, and wineries that dot the landscape.

I love spending time along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, dining at one of the state's famous supper clubs, and exploring the many Wisconsin state parks.

There's no place quite like the Maine coast.
Emily sits on a rocky coastline with a lighthouse in the background.

Emily Hart

There's so much to love about Maine, but my favorite part of the state is the coast. With jagged and dramatic cliffs, lighthouses, and lobster shacks, visiting the Maine coast is an unforgettable experience.

It's easy to find peace in the state that sees the first sunrise of the year and is home to Acadia National Park, which is one of the country's most-popular national parks.

I love to road trip up the coast, stopping in beautiful towns like Kennebunkport, Bar Harbour, and Lubec.

As my home state, Colorado will always hold a special place in my heart.
Emily walks across rocks in a lake that's surrounded by mountains and trees.

Emily Hart

I couldn't write a list like this without including my home state of Colorado. The state has so much to offer, from beautiful views to fun activities.

On the Front Range, I enjoy hiking in Boulder and exploring Cheyenne Cañon. I like to spend the night at the The Broadmoor hotel in Colorado Springs before heading over to Great Sand Dunes National Park.

In the Rockies, I love driving Independence Pass to Aspen, as well as exploring the underrated Grand Mesa, which is the biggest flat-top mountain in the world. I also enjoy taking road trips to the charming mountain towns of Telluride, Buena Vista, and Steamboat Springs.

No matter where you find yourself in Colorado, there's no shortage of incredible natural beauty and outdoor adventure.

New Hampshire boasts some of the best skiing and hiking in the Northeast.
Emily sits on a wall facing to the right with a camera in her hand. Behind her are mountains and trees with beautiful fall foliage.

Emily Hart

The Northeast is famous for its fall foliage, but I can't help but think that New Hampshire is sometimes overshadowed by its neighbors, Maine and Vermont.

I was stunned by its natural beauty during my first trip to the state. From the White Mountains to Franconia Notch State Park, the state boasts some of the best skiing and hiking in the Northeast.

Utah is home to five major national parks.
Emily stands in front of massive sand-colored rock formations in Kodachrome Basin State Park.

Emily Hart

Utah is a state that you have to see to believe. With five major national parks, 46 state parks, 15 ski resorts, and hidden gems at every turn — you'll never get bored here.

I love visiting Moab to hike in Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, and Dead Horse Point State Park before heading south to Bryce Canyon National Park, Kodachrome Basin State Park, and Zion National Park.

I also like making stops in Park City and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.

Arizona is the perfect escape for adventure and relaxation.
Emily sits on the ground facing to the right. Behind her are large red-rock formations, and in front of her are a small body of water and a cactus.

Emily Hart

Arizona is well known for the Grand Canyon, but the state has much more to offer. From Flagstaff's high-altitude forests to Sedona's iconic red rocks, Arizona's diversity is surprising and worth a trip.

I love hiking among the cacti in Sedona or Scottsdale before heading to one of the many resorts to jump in a pool or hit the spa — the perfect escape for adventure and relaxation.
