Trump administration fails to meet its goal of deporting one million people per year

22 October 2026 at 12:47

The Donald Trump administration is failing to meet its goal of deporting one million people a year and remains far from achieving the largest deportation effort in U.S. history, a cornerstone promise of the Republican’s 2024 presidential campaign. In the first 18 months of his second term it has deported 980,000 people, according to a report published Thursday by the Migration Policy Institute (MPI). That figure exceeds the removals carried out during Joe Biden’s term and during Trump’s first presidency, but so far it does not surpass the totals recorded under the Barack Obama administration or those of other earlier presidents.

Trump administration softens its stance on TPS amid election campaign

21 October 2026 at 12:38

The Donald Trump administration has done with Ukrainians and Sudanese this week what it did last month with Salvadorans: it has not terminated Temporary Protected Status (TPS), but it has not renewed it either. The program that provides legal immigration status to 101,000 Ukrainians and 1,800 Sudanese citizens was set to expire on Monday, but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has declined to comment, which for now leaves them protected from deportation.

In South Texas everyone knows the performer: they grew up with his hit Desvelado, they danced and fell in love to Se murió de amor. But for the past year Pulido has shown a new side—one some support without hesitation and others are still weighing as an option on the midterm ballot: that of politician.

Feeling blamed and deceived: Latinos who voted for Trump rebel against the Republican Party

19 October 2026 at 11:14

Celia Salmerón had never voted for a Republican candidate. Not until 2024. Then, in the presidential election, she became one of many Latino voters who believed Donald Trump when he promised at every rally that he would deport all criminals and improve the economy. Two years after giving him her support, Salmerón — like so many other Hispanic voters — regrets her decision and says she will vote for the Democratic Party in the midterm elections on November 3. “For everything he’s doing to poor people, for separating parents from their children,” she says as she inserts hair extensions.

As sand becomes more valuable, Sierra Leone’s Mahera Coast grows more vulnerable

13 October 2026 at 18:27
PORT LOKO, Sierra Leone — When the tide pulls away from the beach in the agricultural regions in Mahera in Lungi, about 27 kilometers (17 miles) across the sea from the country’s capital, Freetown, the digging commences. Young men shovel sand into cement bags and carry them to a flat open area to pile sand into heaps to be sold by local women to truck drivers. These women are dedicated sand sellers. They negotiate prices, buy sand from the shovelers and sell to heavy-duty truck drivers to be transported to Lungi, Port Loko and other areas. The income helps pay for food, school fees and other basic needs of their families.  However, their work relies heavily on the seasonal tide: The sellers can buy sand during low tide but are banned from doing so during high tide. In Mahera, the sand trade began as a survival strategy for 14 women who became family breadwinners, mostly due to absent partners. Aminata Kargbo is the chairperson of the sand sellers in the locality in Mahera, and entered the business to support her seven children after her husband’s death. “Most of these women have lost their husbands, and the money we make goes to support our children,” she said. She oversees about 19 sand sellers, the majority of them women. Many of these women have become widows after losing their husbands to Sierra Leone’s civil war (1991-2002) and various illnesses. 10 Reasons Why Marxism Is Bad News for Humanity

3 October 2026 at 05:01
God’s Word reveals that all humans have sinned, standing equally in need of a Savior (Romans 3:23). But Marxism labels humans guilty or innocent based on their group affiliations more than their individual sins. For example, Marx portrayed the business-owning class as guilty of being oppressors, while later Marxist thinkers (neo-Marxists) added groups like men,... Continue Reading

De hecho, según el sondeo, ocho de cada diez encuestados está dispuesto a pagar un precio superior por productos de granja obtenidos respetando el bienestar animal.
